1. Who we are

GayTalk (www.gaytalk.net) is an online community for adults, operated by Statix Internet Solutions. Statix is the controller for personal data processed through this platform.

2. What data we collect

  • Account data: username, email address, password (hashed), registration date.
  • Profile data: data you enter yourself such as age, country, city, orientation, interests, profile photo, album photos and free-text fields.
  • Technical data: IP address at registration, login and security-relevant actions; browser user-agent; pages visited.
  • Usage data: online status / last active, profile views, private messages (content and attachments), forum and blog posts, block and report data.
  • Security logs: failed logins, blocked registrations, spam scores and moderation actions.

3. Why we process this data

  • Providing the service: account, profiles, messaging, forum (legal basis: performance of contract).
  • Security and abuse prevention: spam detection, rate limits, moderation (legal basis: legitimate interest).
  • Communication: activation, notification and service emails (legal basis: performance of contract; notifications can be switched off per conversation).
  • Legal obligations and protection of our rights.

4. Special notes

  • Orientation is special-category personal data. You fill it in voluntarily; it is visible to other logged-in members and you can change or delete it at any time.
  • Private messages are not public but are stored. Moderators only view them after a report or a concrete abuse investigation; this is logged.
  • Explicit photos are never shown publicly to non-members and go through moderation.

5. Sharing with third parties (processors)

  • Hosting: the site runs on servers managed by Statix (wup.nu infrastructure).
  • Cloudflare: security and caching; IP traffic passes through Cloudflare.
  • Matomo: statistics via statistix.biz (self-hosted, no data to third parties).
  • Google reCAPTCHA: only on the Telegram verification page and login forms.
  • GIPHY: when using GIF search in messages, your search term is sent to GIPHY.
  • Telegram bot: during group verification your account details are shared with our bot API (alma.statix.biz).

Data is not sold and not shared with advertisers.

6. Retention

  • Account and profile data: as long as your account exists.
  • Private messages: as long as the conversation exists; deleted conversations are cleaned up periodically.
  • Security and spam logs: maximum 12 months.
  • Unactivated registrations: deleted after approx. 30 days.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. You can edit most of your profile yourself or delete your account via your account page. For other requests: [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.

Complaints can be filed with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

8. Security

We take technical and organisational measures (TLS, limited access, logging, moderation) to protect data.
